Ladies and gentlemen, CAMP BISCO IS LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AWAY! Dear god, I’m excited.
I have the absolute pleasure of being a ‘Camp Counselor’ this year. I essentially have the same responsibilities as a ‘Bassnectar Ambassador’ – that is to make sure everyone is having a great time and well-hydrated. If you look thirsty, I’ll probably give you some water, and if you recognize me, I’ll probably give you a BM sticker.
There’s still so many surprises yet to be unveiled, it’s insane. All of the anxiety, excitement, and emotion that you’ve been brewing for the past few months is going to double, if not triple, in the next few days. The entire production team is already on-site preparing the location, and things are already looking better than expected. That reminds me… let’s all keep our fingers crossed that this might be the first festival this season that won’t be rainy. (plz)
First things first, ART. My family over at ABV ATL are providing the artistic direction for Camp Bisco this year. Not only are they hand picking the best contemporary artists in the nation, but creating an experience that EVERYONE will enjoy. How? Let’s just say you’ve never been to a music festival in the shade and at multi-level art gallery… all at the same time. GREG MIKE is leading a team of 11 visual artists to construct live artwork pieces, as well as collaborating with motion media artist, Mr. Div, and typography artist, NEVER.
I’m not done yet. There’s going to be multiple unique shaded fabric structures installed by Function Forms, and multiple large scale outdoor balloon installations known as the ‘balloon chains.’ Trust me, you’ll know it when you see it. The entire art movement as a whole is interactive and meant to be a place to catch your breath, get some shade, or serve as a meeting point for your friends. Don’t be a stranger, these artists are friendly and are some of the best in the biz.
If that’s not your vibe, then you might find yourself at one of the daily Bisco workshops. These special experiences range from Daily Yoga to Gloving, Go-go Dancing, Concert Lighting, Meditation, Sonic Healing, DIY Festival Clothing, and more! Basically, if you have a passion for anything, you will find ‘your people’ here.
Last but not least, the music. (There’s music?!) You’ve seen the lineup, you can’t wait to see a particular artist, and you know there’s going to be surprise special guests. Beyond that, you want to be with your friends, your crew.
Here’s the site map… http://campbisco.net/docs/camp-bisco-2013-venue-map.pdf
Memorize it, print 10 copies, and save it to your phone. The setup is slightly different from last year, and the map appears to have more vegetation than usual, but don’t worry – it’s all for the best.
That’s because the Bisco crowd IS the best of the best. Those who choose to take the pilgrimage to New York are always rewarded. See you there, my friends. Safe travels.
